Nestled at the foot of the stunning West MacDonnell Ranges, just 10 minutes from Alice Springs, Alice Springs Desert Park offers a truly unique and immersive experience in Australia’s central desert environment. Spanning 1,300 hectares, this registered botanic garden presents and protects the diverse flora, fauna, and cultural heritage of Central Australia.
Closely connected to the local Arrernte people, the park interprets the rich stories and spiritual connections of the land through three distinct desert habitats—Desert Rivers, Sand Country, and Woodland. Visitors explore these landscapes via a daily program of presentations, a captivating free-flying bird show, our Nocturnal House and encounters with endangered nocturnal animals.
Since opening in 1997, Alice Springs Desert Park has grown into a leading centre for desert research, conservation, and ecotourism. Owned by the Northern Territory Government and managed by the Parks and Wildlife Commission, the park holds Advanced Ecotourism Accreditation and partners in numerous breeding and conservation programs.

The Alice Springs Desert Park reserves the right to charge a cancellation fee for services if bookings are cancelled with less than 7 days notice prior to the event.
Cancellation fees are as follows:
- 6 days notice 25% of the cost of the service - 2-5 days notice 50% of the cost of the service - Less than 24 hours notice 100% of the cost of the service Please note Nocturnal tour may be cancelled at short notice due to weather conditions.
