Cooneana Ipswich Historical Society

Cooneana Heritage Centre houses six architecturally significant buildings dating from the 1860s to the1970s. The complex is home to the only specialised coal mining museum in the Ipswich area, as well as a general museum of photographs, maps, artefacts and displays depicting Ipswich's rich history. A WW1 exhibit entitled "Ipswich at War and the Home Front 1914 - 1918" highlights the region's military links. A comprehensive research library with professional librarians is available to assist with your information needs. An interactive, curriculum-aligned education program is provided for schools and their students. Guided tours of our picturesque grounds and buildings, with informative narratives, are offered by our friendly team.
