Become acquainted with some friendly creatures of the deep at Irukandji Shark & Ray Encounters! Enjoy a guided tour of the aquarium, learning about the animals and their importance in the ocean environment, and have the chance to feed and pet them. They're just bursting to say hello! Head to Irukandji Shark & Ray Encounters for a unique and immersive animal adventure! Located in Anna Bay, the aquarium pledges to raise awareness and make a positive difference to aquatic life. You will embark on a guided tour of the aquarium where you will deep dive into life under the sea, learning more about their conservation efforts and about the incredible, friendly and intelligent creatures living there. You'll have the opportunity to pet and feed the animals from the edges of the lagoons, including graceful sting rays and tawny nurse sharks, sometimes referred to as the 'koalas of the ocean.' You can choose to encounter these animals from the edges of the pools, staying dry, or get your feet wet in the shallows encounter wearing your own clothes. There???s also the option to don a wetsuit and get even closer to the animals while the cuddle up to your lap, or even snorkel with them in the deeper water!
With a focus on Education, Conservation and Fun, Irukandji is a unique, interactive aquarium that allows visitors to experience ocean life in a new and exciting way! Get up close to sharks and rays and learn about their importance in the marine environment. Entry includes feeding and petting the animals on your aquarium tour, and you can choose to upgrade to in-water experiences at the venue if you wish. During the experience you will come across Port Jackson sharks, zebra sharks, tawny nurse sharks, bamboo sharks, eastern fiddler rays, shovelnose rays, smooth rays, eagle rays, leopard whiptail rays and more! There will be many opportunities during your tour to pet, feed and learn about them. There are also extra experiences you can participate in such as private feeding of some of our larger sharks, and even the chance to snorkel in the deeper water of the lagoon. FROM NEWCASTLE/SYDNEY: Take the F3 towards Newcastle. Pass Newcastle and the Hexam Bridge then turn 1st left following the signs to Nelson Bay. Take the left onto Nelson Bay Road at the Mcdonald's roundabout. Follow Nelson Bay Rd through three more roundabouts. At the fourth roundabout take the third exit onto Jessie Rd. From NELSON BAY: Travel approximately 10-13 minutes towards Newcastle on Nelson Bay Rd. Take 1st exit at roundabout onto Jessie Rd.

Admission tickets are non-transferable non-exchangeable non-refundable and void if altered. They are not valid for special events that require a separate admission charge. All persons entering the Attraction must have a valid entrance ticket which must be retained during your visit. If you have special circumstances and give well in advance notice exceptions may be made by contacting Irukandji.
